“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” – Galatians 5:22–23
At Foundations of Sapphires, we believe that spiritual growth isn’t just measured by knowledge of Scripture—but by the visible fruit it produces in a child’s life. That’s why, every year, we honor one exceptional student with the Sapphire Yearly Award—a recognition given to a child who consistently demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit in everyday life.
The award isn’t just a ceremony. It’s a celebration of what happens when faith takes root in the hearts of young people. Through love, kindness, and self-control, these children shine as living testimonies of God’s transforming power.
🏆 What Is the Sapphire Yearly Award?
The Sapphire Award is presented at the close of each school program year at Dumfries Primary School to a student who exemplifies the character traits found in Galatians 5:22–23. It comes with a monetary gift, a symbolic token, and most importantly, the affirmation that their spiritual growth is seen, celebrated, and valued.
Let’s take a moment to meet some of our past awardees, whose lives reflect the radiant beauty of God’s Spirit at work.
💙 Meet Our Sapphire Awardees
🌟 Zara (Age 10) – A Heart Full of Kindness
Zara’s teachers describe her as “the girl with the gentle smile and helping hands.” She’s known for volunteering to assist classmates who are struggling—academically or emotionally. Whether it’s helping to clean up after a group project or comforting a friend who’s having a hard day, Zara consistently shows kindness and gentleness that go beyond her years.
“I like helping because I feel like that’s what Jesus would do,” Zara says with a grin.
🌟 Daniel (Age 11) – A Picture of Patience and Peace
Daniel didn’t always stand out as a leader—but over the year, his quiet patience and calming presence began to influence others. He was known for settling arguments between classmates, encouraging fairness during games, and waiting his turn without complaints.
“Sometimes I just breathe and pray before reacting. It helps me not get angry fast,” Daniel shared during our retreat.
His life reminded us that peace isn’t the absence of problems—it’s choosing God’s way in the middle of them.
🌟 Michelle (Age 9) – A Joy That Shines Bright
Michelle’s joy is contagious. Whether she’s dancing during worship, laughing during memory verse games, or encouraging a discouraged friend, her spirit radiates warmth and joy. Even when faced with personal challenges at home, she remains positive and hopeful.
“Jesus makes me happy inside. So, I try to share that with others,” she said when receiving her award.
Her life proves that true joy isn’t based on circumstances—it’s rooted in Christ.
🌱 The Power of Spiritual Growth in Children
These stories are more than feel-good moments. They’re evidence that children can and do bear spiritual fruit when nurtured in an environment of prayer, discipleship, and love. At Foundations of Sapphires, we’re committed to creating that environment through our programs and partnerships with parents and educators.
The Sapphire Yearly Award reinforces this growth by highlighting real-life examples of children walking in step with the Spirit. It inspires others to pursue spiritual maturity, not for applause, but for God’s glory.
🙌 Why This Matters
The fruit of the Spirit is more than a memory verse—it’s a lifestyle. When young hearts begin to reflect the nature of Christ, we know the mission is working. Honoring these children isn’t just a reward; it’s a reminder that the next generation can live holy, powerful, Spirit-led lives.

✨ Final Thoughts
The world needs more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—and God is planting those seeds in our children. Through the lives of our Sapphire Awardees, we are reminded that spiritual fruit grows in real soil, in real hearts, and in real children.
And when it grows, it changes the world—one young life at a time.
