“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…” – Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV)
In a world that constantly tells young people who they should be, we must boldly remind them of who God already says they are. Social media, peer pressure, and ever-changing cultural trends have made it harder than ever for youth to discover their true identity. That’s why Foundations of Sapphires is committed to helping children and teens build their identity on the unchanging truth of God’s Word.
We believe that discovering purpose begins with understanding identity—and true identity is only found in CHRIST.
💡 Why Identity Matters
The teenage years are often filled with questions:
-
Who am I?
-
Do I matter?
-
What am I supposed to do with my life?
These aren’t just passing thoughts—they are deeply spiritual questions. If unanswered or misdirected, they can lead to confusion, insecurity, and emotional instability. But when rooted in faith, these same questions become the launchpad for purposeful living.
At Foundations of Sapphires, we guide youth to understand that:
-
They are created intentionally by God (Psalm 139:14).
-
They are chosen and loved (1 Peter 2:9).
-
They are called to make an impact (Ephesians 2:10).
📖 Building a Godly Identity in a Noisy World
Here’s how we help youth discover their identity and calling:
1. Teach Them Who God Says They Are
The first step to building identity is replacing lies with truth. Through Bible-centered teaching, we help children memorize and meditate on Scripture that affirms their value and uniqueness.
“You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…” – 1 Peter 2:9
This truth combats the lies of “I’m not enough” or “I don’t matter.” It anchors them in God’s perspective.
2. Encourage God-Conversations
At our retreats, small groups, and discipleship programs like Power in Purity, we create safe spaces for kids to ask questions about life, faith, and identity. These conversations provide clarity, reveal purpose, and deepen their relationship with God.
When youth feel heard and seen, they begin to open up about their struggles—and God meets them there.
3. Help Them Identify Their Gifts
Every child has been equipped with spiritual and natural gifts. Whether it’s a passion for music, a gift for leadership, or a heart for helping others, God has placed something beautiful in each child.
We guide youth in:
-
Recognizing their talents
-
Understanding their spiritual gifts
-
Seeing how their gifts connect to Kingdom purpose
This creates excitement and motivation to grow into who God created them to be.
4. Model Purposeful Living
Children mirror what they see. That’s why mentors, parents, and leaders must model lives of intentional faith. At Foundations of Sapphires, we lead by example—showing youth what it means to pursue God wholeheartedly, live with integrity, and serve others selflessly.
Purpose is caught as much as it is taught.
5. Protect Their Environment
Just as seeds need the right soil to grow, so do young hearts. We help youth build godly friendships, join faith-filled communities, and disconnect from negative influences that cloud their identity. Our programs focus on surrounding them with voices that point them back to God’s truth.
🌱 When Identity Is Clear, Purpose Is Unstoppable
Once children know who they are in God, they begin to walk differently. They stop seeking validation from the world and start living with divine intention. They understand that their lives aren’t random—they’re assignments.
And when a young person discovers their assignment, the enemy loses ground.
💬 Testimony from a Young Participant
“I used to think I wasn’t special. But after the retreat, I realized God created me for something big. Now I pray more, and I want to help other girls feel loved by God too.”
– Renee, Age 13
🔔 Final Thoughts: Calling Out the Gold in Every Child
At Foundations of Sapphires, we believe every child is a treasure waiting to be uncovered. Their purpose is not something they chase—it’s something they carry. Our role is to help them see it, believe it, and live it out boldly.
Because when a young person finds their identity in Christ, they don’t just survive in the world—they transform it.
