At the heart of Foundations of Sapphires is a woman whose journey with God has transformed pain into purpose and isolation into impact. Melisa Lewis, the founder and visionary of this ministry, was not raised with a strong spiritual support system. Yet even in her youth, she experienced divine moments encounters with God that stirred her soul and revealed a higher calling.
However, without a mentor, discipleship, or a community to guide her, those early spiritual experiences remained disconnected. She found herself navigating the most crucial years of her life without the firm foundation that every child of God deserves. The loneliness and uncertainty she faced during those years could have broken her but instead, God used them to build her.
“There were moments in my childhood when God clearly called me,” Melisa shares, “but I didn’t have anyone to help me respond properly. That silence, that gap — that’s what this ministry now speaks into.”
Her story is not one of perfection, but of persistence a testimony of how God takes the overlooked and builds them into leaders who lift others. From her personal struggles emerged a holy burden: to ensure no child or youth walks their faith journey alone.

Foundations of Sapphires was born out of a deep desire to fill the gap that Melisa once faced. It is her God-given response to the need for spiritual and emotional support for today’s generation of young people. Through this ministry, Melisa is raising a community of “sapphires” precious, radiant lives shaped by purity, faith, and the love of KING JESUS.
Her passion for purity, discipleship, and spiritual growth is evident in every program the foundation offers. Whether it’s through the Power in Purity discipleship group, the Teach Us to Pray retreat, or the annual Sapphire Award, Melisa’s fingerprints and God’s guidance are all over the ministry.
